2024 Aviation Day at the Virginia General Assembly

How It Works 

The VAOC will schedule appointments with House and Senate representatives who have airports in their districts and key committee members. On the morning of, we will gather at the Library of Virginia for breakfast to review talking points and strategies, and then break into teams. Experienced VAOC members will be paired with newer members to visit legislators. 

Teams will be provided with an appointment list, biographies of legislators, talking points, an overview of bills and/or issues of interest, and a leave-behind handout with some challenges and successes within the airport community for the past couple of years.

Parking

Paid lots are available throughout the area, see map for more detail. The closest lots to the Library of Virginia are located at 9th & Grace Street and 10th & Grace Street. Additionally, the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church has parking available; enter on 8th Street between Grace & Franklin. Try to leave yourself plenty of time, we could be facing some parking and/or crowd challenges due to other events occurring.

Building Access

To ensure the safety of employees and visitors, all non-credentialed visitors are required to pass through a security screening and have their personal items screened by an x-ray machine before entry to the building. Please note that all packages and bags are subject to a physical search.
